Our philosophy

Software should respect the work.

Lawn-A-Matic grew out of a small business, not a boardroom. We build for people who have customers to serve, schedules to keep, and a lot riding on the work they do every day.

The story

An unexpected path to building better tools

My background in technology and my experience in the field came together in a way I never planned.

From a family business to the field

I grew up around a family-run small business. It taught me early that time, trust, and money matter. Later, I spent more than a decade working in IT, web development, software engineering, and cybersecurity. I have always enjoyed learning how things work and finding ways to make them work better.

Then I started mowing a neighbor's yard. What began as an unexpected job gradually grew into a professional lawn care operation. I learned that anyone can cut grass, but delivering consistently professional lawn care takes training, practice, judgment, and attention to detail. It's skilled work, and I'm proud to do it.

Why I started Lawn-A-Matic

Running a lawn business showed me how much of the work happens beyond the mower: scheduling around weather, organizing routes, communicating with customers, managing crews, and getting invoices out after a long day.

Business software can help, but rising costs, persistent bugs, and awkward workflows can add problems of their own. Because I understood both the field work and software development, I began building the tools I wished I'd had. That's where Lawn-A-Matic came from.

What guides us

Small-business values, in practice

These principles shape how we build the product and how we treat the people using it.

Useful beats flashy

We focus on tools that solve real field and office problems. A feature should make the work easier, not just look good in a demonstration.

Respect every size of business

A solo operator matters just as much as an established crew. The small company of today may be the much larger company of tomorrow.

Time and budgets matter

We believe in straightforward pricing, practical setup, and not wasting your day on unnecessary calls, sales pitches, or obstacles.

No high-pressure selling

Starting a trial shouldn't invite an aggressive sales campaign. We want you to explore the product and decide for yourself, without pressure if you say no.

Listen, own mistakes, improve

We welcome bug reports and thoughtful feature requests. We won't promise every suggestion will be built, but we believe in listening and being honest when something needs fixing.

Built independently

We're a small business building for other small businesses. There is no corporate board or outside investor directing day-to-day product decisions for investment returns.

Support matters

You should be able to reach us.

When software is part of your workday, a problem isn't just an inconvenience. It can cost you time and affect your customers. We want to hear when something isn't working and give you a clear response.

Our goal is to respond to support requests and reported bugs on the same day they are received.

That's a goal, not a guarantee that every problem can be resolved the same day. We would rather be clear about an issue than promise a fix we cannot deliver.

Why we stay small-business minded

A relationship, not a sales target.

There is no need for a hard sell. We want people to understand what they're paying for, find the right tools for their operation, and have room to grow without being talked down to.

We're still learning and improving, just like the businesses we serve. If Lawn-A-Matic earns a place in your day, it should be because it helps you do your work.
